Empowering communities through Peet's National Community Grants Program
Since 2020, Peet’s National Community Grants program has provided more than $380,000 in support to build capacity within its communities and the regions where Peet residents and their families are involved.
The program aligns with the company’s social sustainability strategy, which focuses on initiatives that can have a meaningful impact on its residents and staff.
The range of activities and initiatives supported by the annual program includes those that help build connections within Peet communities, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability, family and community-based activities, educational opportunities, youth development, health and wellbeing, and the arts.
During FY24, 34 community groups, schools, sporting clubs and cultural events have benefited from the grants program nationally.
One such group is Burns Beach Primary School, which provided students the opportunity to learn about visual storytelling and work collaboratively between classes to create joint stories and artworks. These were then transformed into digital formats by creative practitioner Peter Ryan.
“The Peet grant, provided through Burns Beach along with other community donations and fundraising, has made it possible to print and install the super-sized murals onto our five Learning Blocks,” said Sally Cruickshank, Visual Arts Specialist at the school.
“They tell the story of five characters that represent the values of our school and will be a key feature for many years to come.”
Another successful recipient is the Ethelton Entertainers, a volunteer theatre group based in western Adelaide.
The group, founded in the 1960s by a group of mothers to provide an end of year event for the school their children were attending, now offers year-round community performances and fundraisers.
“The grant from the Fort Largs community helped us to cover staging, lighting and audio costs for our shows,” said member Lisa Brooks.
“Without the funding, we may not have been able to hold any shows this year. We truly appreciate the assistance and support.”
“We aim to build vibrant and inclusive communities that foster a sense of belonging, and our National Community Grants Program provides valuable grass-roots support for community organisations to thrive and ultimately become self-sufficient,” said Peet Managing Director and CEO, Brendan Gore.
“We take great pride in supporting a range of groups within our communities to help them bring their projects to life through the grants program and are pleased to see the positive impact it delivers both in the short and long term.”
To access funding for this year, groups are encouraged to contact their local Peet community team for more information, including application deadlines.
