Lakelands Yoga at Black Swan Lake

On Thursday 6 March 2025, the Lakelands community came together to kick off the first in a series of March yoga sessions at Black Swan Lake.

The free yoga session was a massive success with 30 residents taking part, unwinding with some stretches and fresh fruit while soaking in the peaceful vibes of Black Swan Lake.

Don’t worry if you missed this one, sessions are held every Thursday evening in March from 5:30pm at Black Swan Lake, so grab your mat, bring your energy and we’ll see you there!

Lakelands Estate labelled Best Master Planned Community 2024

On Saturday night at the Property Council of Australia WA Awards, Lakelands Estate was thrilled to receive the award for Best Master Planned Community!

Lakelands has been thoughtfully designed to enhance and conserve its beautiful natural surrounds, successfully deliver key social infrastructure and amenity, in addition to providing strong connectivity and convenience via the train station and Lakelands Shopping Centre at the commercial heart of the community.

Congratulations to the Peet team who have shown unwavering commitment to this project over a long period of time and thank you to our extended consultant team for your continued dedication and support.

Thank you to the Property Council WA for this fantastic recognition, we are very proud to receive this award.

Lakelands Lads Men'tal Talks

On Sunday 6 October, The Lakelands Lads held their second Men’tal Talks event of the year. 

The Lakelands Lads are a group of dads who are committed to supporting fathers around Lakelands Estate, by putting on events and activities that encourage families to connect and learn about positive fathering. 

This particular event was held at the Lakelands Tavern, where the local blokes had coffee and engaged in open and honest discussions about mental health. 

The event saw Wayne Wigham, former rugby league legend, attend the event on behalf of Black Dog Institute to share his own personal mental health journey. Wayne talked about watching for the warning signs, and how to look out for the mental health of friends and family.

What followed was a rich discussion among the men about mental well-being, and how they can support each other to stay mentally healthy. 

Community Garden Open Day

On Sunday 8 September, Lakelands residents were invited to celebrate the start of Spring at the Lakelands Community Garden Open Day. Community Garden members were excited to celebrate their hard work, proudly showcasing everything they had growing in the garden whilst reflecting on the effort they had invested.

The garden had a fantastic energy - with families encouraged to dress up in their favourite costumes, we had a great turn out of fairies and pixies to fill the air with a little bit of magic.

Attendees were treated to a range of workshops throughout the day, including 'How To Build a Frog Hotel' with Anne-Marie, 'Keeping Bees' with Robyn Brown, and a tour of the garden. Children enjoyed a visit from the Freedom Fairies for a morning of stories in the garden and fairy face painting.

Jarrah Celts band provided the tunes as a perfect backdrop for community members to enjoy a picnic or wander through the many stalls on offer, including Wooden Toy designing with Mandurah Men's Shed, 'plant a pot' with Mandurah Bunnings, Introduction to Worms with Mandurah Community Garden, or one of the many seed, harvest, bonsai, and plant stores. 

Lakelands Lads Men tal Talks

Lakelands Lads presented MEN'TAL talks at the Lakelands Tavern in conjunction with Black Dog Institute to talk all things mental health, specifically with men. 

There was lots of discussion had around normalising men being open about their mental health struggles, and always endeavoring to seek help. 

The lads were joined by special guest Wayne Wigham, who shared his personal journey with mental health and shared strategies to overcome struggles. 

We had a lot of positive feedback from the event, specifically from one patron who said the conversations had really helped him through a difficult time. 

We are so grateful to the Lakelands Lads, Black Dog Institute and Wayne, for getting everybody together and helping our community. 

National Tree Planting Day 2023

The 12-year effort of tree planting by Mandurah Baptist College students has concluded at Lakelands Estate. 

Guided by Peet, this reforestation endeavor, which commenced in 2011, recently marked its 20,000th planted tree!

With the assistance of Creating Communities Australia, this initiative has facilitated the thriving of one of Peel's rapidly growing areas.

Rhys Williams, Mayor of the City of Mandurah, expressed, "While we are bidding farewell to this journey, we take pride in the accomplishments of the students over the past decade..."

Lakelands Train Station is NOW OPEN

Lakelands Station officially opened on 11 June 2023, providing passengers with a 50-minute commute to the Perth CBD. Plus, Lakelands Station is ‘future-proofed’ to allow additional facilities such as escalators, more lifts, a kiosk, fare gates, and a customer service office to be installed in the future, once demand requires these.

Music by The Lake Event Wrap-Up

What an amazing event! On Saturday 11 March, Music by The Lake was attended by approximately 200-250 people at Black Swan Lake, where the lake was brought to life, and some very talented locals put on a show 🤩

Music by The Lake was kindly sponsored by Lakelands Shopping Centre and City of Mandurah. The City also held a sow and grow activity to promote Grow it Local throughout the event.

Some of the highlights were: 
👯 The incredible local performers
🍕 Dominos Meadow Springs kindly donated 40 free pizzas to the event 
🎤 Amber Kearns did a great job of MC-ing the event 
🤗 A special visit from Ahmed Zilani 
👍 The kids creating floating happiness with their bubble wands 
🤝 The community spirit that could be felt at the event with all the happy attendees 

With such busy day, we were thrilled to see such a great turnout. A huge thanks goes to Dominos Meadow Springs for donating so many free pizzas at such short notice 💛

Another successful Lakelands Tree Planting Day!

For the past 13 years, Peet has been partnering with Mandurah Baptist College in Lakelands Estate to recognise National School Tree Day.

In collaboration with Creating Communities Australia and revegetation specialist, Tranen Revegetation Systems, the program is designed to teach students about caring for their local environment both now and into the future. For the older students they learn how to grow the plants as part of their studies as well as skills in mentoring the younger students and potential environmental career opportunities.  

Since commencement, over 20,000 plants have been planted within the estate, and the program has now evolved to form part of the science curriculum for Year 11 and 12 students, resulting in a program that runs year round.

With the school continuing to grow the seedlings to revegetate the surrounds of the school going forward, it is rewarding to know the project will continue to flourish for years to come, creating a sustainable future for Lakelands.

Lakelands AFL facility named best in Australia

Peet’s Lakelands Estate is set to become a breeding ground for the next generation of AFL all-stars, with the Lakelands Park Sporting Complex taking home the prestigious award for National Project of the Year.

The $7.9 million facility was announced as the winner of the AFL’s Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Awards, with the honour awarded to the City of Mandurah to recognise the region as home to the best community football facility development in Australia. Spanning 10 hectares, Lakelands Park Sporting Complex includes three ovals, competition-standard lighting, AFL goal posts and a district level sports facility.

The awards assess the impact of community projects, in line with the AFL’s aim of providing fit-for-purpose football facilities, which support the game’s growth. The Lakelands Park Sporting Complex benefits the North Mandurah Junior and Senior Football Clubs and puts Mandurah on the map for homebuyers and AFL recruiters alike.

This is not the first time the area has been recognised for its contribution to AFL, with the Peel region producing more than a dozen AFL players.

The City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams was proud of the integrated approach towards the project, with the award recognising the development’s contribution to community sport.

“With 10 hectares of playing spaces and state of the art club rooms, Lakelands Park is an absolute hub of community activity and I am very proud to see it recognised on a national stage,” Mayor Rhys Williams said.

“This was a visionary and complex project to deliver in what was then and still is today one of the fastest growing parts of Western Australia, and highlights the importance of good strategic planning and making provision for community spaces.”

Peet Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the communities new title as home to the best community football facility development in Australia, was a testament to the collaboration involved in bringing the project to life.

Brand-new Lakelands Display Village

Peet’s newest display village at Lakelands Estate is now open, with an abundance of choice for homebuyers planning their new home.

The display village, located just a few kilometres north of Mandurah in the high growth southern corridor of Perth, captures a range of living possibilities across nine homes from some of Perth’s leading builders.

On Saturday the 2 April 2022 was the official launch date of our Street Mates program.  Those pictured below are just a few of the 12 Street Mates who have made this initiative possible.  These Street Mates have remained committed to welcoming the new residents to Lakelands by dropping them a Street Mates bag full of goodies and helpful information. Our community thanks all of you who have made our new faces at Lakelands Estate feel so welcome!

We would also like to extend our thanks to The Lakelands Shopping Centre and the City of Mandurah for their support of this initiative.  We are very excited to see the future of our Street Mates program and the growth of members as we progress throughout this year.

Additional spots for the Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FHLDS) have just been released!

Usually first home buyers with less than a 20% deposit will need to pay lenders mortgage insurance. Under the Scheme, eligible first home buyers can purchase with a deposit of as little as 5% (lenders criteria apply). This is because the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) guarantees to provide participating lenders up to 15% of the value of the property purchased!

The new release of places in the scheme came into effect on 1st July 2020. This can be used ON TOP of the government HomeBuilder grant, state government building bonus AND First Home Buyers Grant!

The announcement means you may not require as big of a deposit as you first thought. Hurry, there's only 10,000 spaces available until 31st December 2020! Check out if you're eligible below.

Build and Save up to $55,000* towards your new home!

WA Premier Mark McGowan has just announced a further $20,000 Building Bonus between June 4, 2020 and Dec 31, 2020 to build a home.

This is on top of the $25,000* federal HomeBuilder grant that was announced on June 4 2020 as well as the $10,000* First Home Owners Grant. So, Western Australians who are eligible for the Commonwealth HomeBuilder grant could receive up to $55,000* in bonuses!

Plus – if you’re a first homebuyer:

• With the WA Stamp Duty Concessions, that means you could qualify for up to a HUGE $69,440* in benefits!
• And, if you need to borrow over 80% of your property value, you can apply for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and avoid paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Peet Welcomes HomeBuilder Grant

The Federal Government has revealed its HomeBuilders scheme which will provide $25,000 to eligible Australians to build or renovate their home.

What is it? The new grant will give Australian home buyers access to a $25,000 grant to go towards the cost of building a new home up to the value of $750,000, or to assist with renovations of between $150,000 and $750,000.*

What does this mean? If you’ve been planning on building or renovating your home, now is the time to do so! Imagine how a $25,000 grant could help with your new home purchase. The grant comes into effect immediately and is available to couples with a combined income of less than $200,000 per year and individuals earning less than $125,000 per year.

Why now? The HomeBuilder is available for a limited time, so if you’ve been considering purchasing a new home, it is the perfect time to start that process now. HomeBuilder requires contracts to be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020, and construction to commence within three months of the contract signing.

An update - playground closures

The new park on Dragonfly Boulevard includes significant turf area, footpath network, shade structure, picnic tables, landscaped garden beds and retained vegetation as well as fun things for the kids such as a pendulum swing, play net and log tunnels! 

While you’re there, why not take a stroll down to the brand new Neil Bradley Park located on the corner of Bradley Street and Callbonna Esplanade?

There you'll find a small play space for the kids, retained mature trees, a boardwalk, and a viewing deck overlooking the stunning Paganoni Reserve. Plus, you might be lucky enough to spot some of our local kangaroos enjoying the warm weather in the reserve.

A day of learning and growing

Last Friday saw hundreds of students from Mandurah Baptist College get their hands dirty planting almost 1,400 seedlings at the new Stage 67 Park.  It was so lovely seeing so many familiar faces participating in the 12th Annual Tree Planting Day, with almost half of the Year 11 students returning for another year of green thumbs and collaboration. 

The park is scheduled to finish in spring and will include grass, picnic tables and shade structures, garden beds, retained vegetation, a pendulum swing, play net and log tunnel.

It's amazing to see so many passionate local residents share their ides and vision for a community garden in our estate, and a big shout out to Shani Graham and Amy Warne for facilitating the workshop and leading the group.

Old becomes New again at Lakelands Repair Cafe

A massive thank you to our 10 very enthusiastic volunteers and the participants who joined the Repair Cafe movement!

With plenty of laughter, stories and morning tea, the good vibes sure were flowing with all the volunteers working together and sharing their tips and tricks.

Following the success of the last Repair Cafe workshop, a bell was put in place so that every time an item was fixed, the bell was rung! This was such a fantastic initiative and it's been so amazing to see everyone's faces light up.

The Repair Cafe will be running on the last Sunday of every month until November.

Lakelands Tree Planting Day 2019

Get those green thumbs ready - this year's Lakelands Tree Planting Day will be held this Friday 9 August!

In collaboration with the Mandurah Baptist College and Tranen Revegetation Systems, this will be the 12th year that this community initiative has been running. 

It's a great opportunity for students and parents volunteers to get their hands dirty planting trees around Black Swan Lake!

Swap Meet

Buy, swap and sell at the Mandurah Rotary Swap Meet located at the Lakelands Shopping Centre North Car-Park. 

Organised by volunteers of the Rotary Club of Mandurah , the Swap Meet will be held on the last Sunday of the month. The Swap Meet is a  fundraising activity of the Mandurah Rotary Club and all proceeds go towards the Club’s projects.

Buyers: Swap Meet opens at 7:30am to buyers. Entry is a gold coin donation.

Sellers: Sellers are admitted from 6am. Sellers are charged $10 per bay occupied.

Not one, but TWO new parks are coming soon to Lakelands! 

Construction is beginning on...

The Stage 67 Park, which will include significant turf area, footpath network, shade structure, picnic tables, landscaped garden beds and retained vegetation as well as fun things for the kids such as a pendulum swing, play net and log tunnels. 

The Stage 66 Triangle Park, which will feature retained mature trees, a boardwalk, viewing deck, seating area, turf area, extension of the conservation fencing to Paganoni Lake and more.

We would like to say thank you to the Mandurah Baptist College in advance as they will be organising a community planting to help complete the park.
Construction will commence within the next two weeks, with anticipated completion mid-November - stay tuned for updates!

Thank you to everyone who supported and volunteered at the Repair Café at Lakelands Shopping Centre

A special shoutout to this helpful Lattitude Lakelands resident, Dave. The 82-year-old who is talented in fixing bikes and toys came in with his walker and his wife, Margaret (who was carrying the tools) to lend a helping hand. And help he did! Dave restored a bike for a boy and even taught the boy's father how to fix it for next time - thank you, Dave!

It was amazing to see so many talented volunteers, so keen to put their skills to use! We hope everyone had a productive day learning, fixing and socialising with the local community

Due to the success of the last Repair Café, this event will run on the last Saturday of the month through to November!

Last night, Dale Alcock Homes hosted a street party for their new clients who recently bought in our Stage 67 Release at Lakelands.It was a great opportunity for all to celebrate this exciting milestone in their lives .

So far, 4x slabs are down out of the 11x new homes Dale Alcock are building near this future park reserve.

It was a great opportunity for clients to meet their future neighbours, build new friendships and share their experience building with Dale Alcock Homes.

Sales managers across several trusted brands attended the Lakelands Builder Event on Wednesday night.   The event was held at the Lakelands Sales Office, and it gave managers the opportunity to network over drinks and paella.   The night was a huge success with approximately 30-35 builder representatives attending the event. More than 100 Lakelands residents enjoyed the festive activities at the “Deck the halls” community event held on Sunday 13 November. Writing letters to Santa, making reindeer cookies, Christmas cards and Christmas tree decorations were just a few of the festive activities enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
