Bluestone, Mt Barker Wetlands & Linear Park Now Open
A beloved local amenity, we are excited to announce that works upgrading the Bluestone linear park and wetland are now complete and the space is open for the community to enjoy.
The Bluestone linear park upgrade began in 2020 following extensive planning in the years prior. The wetlands now boast a deep inlet pond to slow incoming water, marsh zones that double as habitat for various flora and fauna, promoting drainage and flood prevention within the park, whilst encouraging wildlife to permanently inhabit the area. Over a two-year period, the Bluestone linear park and wetland was upgraded to improve water quality, reduce storm water runoff, promote wildlife to inhabit the area. It also offers new recreational facilities the community as it continues to grow.
Since acquiring the Bluestone, Mt Barker community in 2016, Peet has added $8 million of public amenities for the community to enjoy. By 2025, the project will provide a total of 1,700 homes and invest a further $4 million dollars into new amenities.
Wednesday 1st February marked the opening of the final stage of the Bluestone Mt Barker Linear Park and Wetland’s upgrade. We were pleased to have Mount Barker District Council Mayor David Leach and State Member for Kavel The Hon Dan Cregan join us at the official opening.
Following natural design principles that preserve the environment and incorporate over 25,000 indigenous plants into the space which will begin to show as they establish over the coming months. This means residents and the wider community will be able to take in the natural environment all while enjoying the new walking trails that are connected to greenspaces, facilities, and public transport.
