Christmas Closure 2024

It's certainly been a big year for us, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our community. 

We will be taking a short break over the Christmas period. Please note that our Sales and Information Centre will be closed from Thursday 19th December 2024 and will re-open on Saturday 4th January 2025.

MSWA Living Centre Approved for Golden Bay

Exciting news for Golden Bay! We're thrilled to share that the MSWA has received approval from the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel to move forward with an exciting project: an assisted living centre for individuals with neurological conditions.

Located on Winderie Road, this 12-unit development supported by the City of Rockingham promises to be a beacon of support and care for those with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

This initiative not only addresses a crucial need for specialised care but also highlights the vibrant growth of our Golden Bay Community.

We're excited about the positive impact this development will have on the community, fostering a supportive environment and showcasing Golden Bay as a hub of compassion and progress.

Local Business Breakfast

An energetic group of Golden Bay businesses and councillors gathered at Bru’s House for the final Golden Bay Business Network breakfast.  The busy time of year and heat did not deter this eager group from coming down, meeting new people and making new connections. There was a flurry of business card swapping and conversations across the table during the morning.

After a rousing introduction from the Mayor Deb Hamblin the spotlight was then passed to Deputy Mayor Lorna Buchan to dive deeper into how the City of Rockingham can further support local businesses in Golden Bay.

Everyone enjoyed a wonderful start to the day with a delicious breakfast from Bru’s House and took away information from the City, each other’s contacts and a Christmas hat!

Golden Bay Estate recognised at the WA Property Council Awards

Golden Bay won the award for Best Community Infrastructure, recognising the seamless and harmonious integration of community amenity into the natural environment following significant community consultation. 

Showcasing this, is the popular Shipwreck Cove, Treehouse Cove and Golden Bay’s Ladder (or the affectionately termed “Jacob’s Ladder of the South”). Through significant community consultation, the development of this amenity has centred on the creation of infrastructure by the community, for the community.

IT'S A WRAP!

A massive thank you to all the attendees who participated in the recent Community Fan Day in Partnership with the Perth Scorchers 🔥🏏

At this free event, we saw cricket enthusiasts from the Golden Bay community take the opportunity to learn all about bowling, batting, fielding and wicketkeeping!  Held at our beautiful estate, the fun did not just stop at the cricket workshop. Various other activities were available for the whole family to enjoy including inflatables & mini golf, face painting & airbrush tattoos, art & craft station, giant games, free ice cream & pizza and more!

Golden Bay Estate receives top marks at UDIA WA Awards

Golden Bay Estate has been celebrated at the prestigious Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) WA Awards, taking home the award for Excellence in Social & Community Infrastructure and the highly coveted Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence.

The Russel Perry Award recognises Golden Bay as the overall winner of the Awards of Excellence, acknowledging the highest standards of development within the industry and considered as the 'Best of the Best' in WA for 2022.

In presenting the award, the judges said "perseverance and commitment to the Golden Bay vision are evidenced in this coastal project, and the community are reaping the rewards, including fantastic amenity that is inclusive and engaging."

New park coming soon to Stage 5!

Golden Bay's brand new park  will be built around existing bush and feature rehabilitation planting, located in Stage 5. The site has significant natural features and the landscape design is heavily focused around the retention of the dunes.

It will feature Golden Bay's Ladder, with 118 steps to the summit of Golden Bay's highest dune, a 360 degree look out at the the highest point, a nature style playground and much more.

• A range of events will be on offer throughout the Rockingham Rumble, including:
• An official launch party hosted by Mad Mex Baldivis on 28th May
• An official after party hosted by Port Kennedy Tavern on 28th May
• Various skating competitions and championships for a range of age groups
• A dedicated Indigenous Showcase
• Learn to Skate workshops for kids 3 to 16 years of age, including one hosted at our very own Daniel Kelly Skate Park

BMX Fun Day Post Event

A massive thank you to all of the families that came down to Golden Bay's first BMX Fun Day at Shipwreck Cove!

The fun didn't stop at the free BMX workshops, with around 700 Golden Bay locals attending the event. 300 pirate hats were made, 400 mermaid bracelets were created and over 500 ice creams were distributed!

Commissioner of State Revenue extends $25K HomeBuilder Timeframes!

The Commissioner of State Revenue has used her discretionary powers to extend the timeframes for the HomeBuilder grants! The requirement to commence construction on a new home has now been changed to 6 months from the date of contract.

The deadline to enter into a building contract remains at 31 December 2020, however the extension to construction commencing provides more time for you to secure your dream home and get $25,000 from the Federal HomeBuilder grant.*

Plus, eligible buyers can still receive the $10,000 First Home Owner's Grant AND the $20,000 State Government Building Bonus. That's a massive $55,000 stimulus package to go towards your new home.

Additional spots for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme have been released!

Additional spots for the Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FHLDS) have just been released!

Usually first home buyers with less than a 20% deposit will need to pay lenders mortgage insurance. Under the Scheme, eligible first home buyers can purchase with a deposit of as little as 5% (lenders criteria apply). This is because the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) guarantees to provide participating lenders up to 15% of the value of the property purchased!

The new release of places in the scheme came into effect on 1st July 2020. This can be used ON TOP of the government HomeBuilder grant, state government building bonus AND First Home Buyers Grant!

The announcement means you may not require as big of a deposit as you first thought. Hurry, there's only 10,000 spaces available until 31st December 2020! Check out if you're eligible below.

Golden Bay Parks and Playgrounds have re-opened!

In accordance with the State Government's recent update on Phase 3 of eased COVID-19 restrictions, we are pleased to share with you that all parks and playgrounds have now been re-opened!

Please note that social distancing rules still apply, and we recommend that you practice good hygiene by washing or sanitising your hands before and after using play equipment.

Looking for a spot for the kids to run off some steam this week? Why not take them to Shipwreck Cove, where their imagination can run wild amongst the shipwreck-themed play equipment. There's plenty of activities for kids of all ages, including an enclosed toddler playground and individual BMX and scooter tracks.

The possibilities are endless with a great range of parks and playgrounds right here in our coastal community.

Build and Save up to $55,000* towards your new home!

WA Premier Mark McGowan has just announced a further $20,000 Building Bonus between June 4, 2020 and Dec 31, 2020 to build a home.

This is on top of the $25,000* federal HomeBuilder grant that was announced on June 4 2020 as well as the $10,000* First Home Owners Grant. So, Western Australians who are eligible for the Commonwealth HomeBuilder grant could receive up to $55,000* in bonuses!

Plus – if you’re a first homebuyer:

• With the WA Stamp Duty Concessions, that means you could qualify for up to a HUGE $69,440* in benefits!
• And, if you need to borrow over 80% of your property value, you can apply for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and avoid paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).
• Sign up to receive our FHB Toolkit, for expert advice, weekly step-by-step guides and exclusive videos

Peet Welcomes HomeBuilder Grant

The Federal Government has revealed its HomeBuilders scheme which will provide $25,000 to eligible Australians to build or renovate their home.

What is it? The new grant will give Australian home buyers access to a $25,000 grant to go towards the cost of building a new home up to the value of $750,000, or to assist with renovations of between $150,000 and $750,000.*

What does this mean? If you’ve been planning on building or renovating your home, now is the time to do so! Imagine how a $25,000 grant could help with your new home purchase. The grant comes into effect immediately and is available to couples with a combined income of less than $200,000 per year and individuals earning less than $125,000 per year.

Why now? The HomeBuilder is available for a limited time, so if you’ve been considering purchasing a new home, it is the perfect time to start that process now. HomeBuilder requires contracts to be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020, and construction to commence within three months of the contract signing.

An update - playground closures

In line with the latest government restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, we advise that all playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms will be closed across all Peet communities. When utilising open spaces for exercise, social distancing and maximum numbers do apply. We understand how important these community facilities are to everyone and that they will be dearly missed, and we thank you for doing your part and adhering to the Government’s guidance. We are excited to announce that Golden Bay's much anticipated 1.5 hectare foreshore park is now open to the public!

Located just 60 metres from the beach, Golden Bay's Shipwreck Cove features a nautical-themed playground, scooter and BMX tracks, a separate enclosed toddler playground for the community's youngest pirates and mermaids, and more!

Car Park Cafe February 2020

Friday night's Car Park Cafe was a huge success, with over 300 attendees enjoying the community spirit and gentle summer breeze down at Golden Bay.

In keeping with the Valentine's theme, we saw the City of Rockingham offer a Blind Date with a Book, the pharmacy promoted Heart Health Awareness by giving out red roses and prizes to anyone wearing red.

The Beauty Bar dress shop also organised a fashion parade whilst the Vet held a dog kissing booth (photos included!).

Thank you to everyone involved who made this wonderful community event possible!

The First Home Loan Deposit Scheme is here

The Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme has come into effect!

The scheme aims to help eligible first home buyers on low and middle incomes gain a foothold in the property market. They now only need to have a minimum 5% deposit and won’t be charged Lenders Mortgage Insurance, with the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) providing a guarantee for the rest!

Great News for First Home Buyers

The State Government announced last week, that they are increasing the maximum annual income limits for a Low Deposit Home Loan. Commencing on 1st July 2019, the new income limits have been increased by $15,000 for singles and couples, and $20,000 for families.

If you have previously applied for a Keystart home but your income was above the eligibility limits, you could now be eligible.

Resident Rhys Mainstone Winner of 2019 Busselton Jetty Swim

As a world-ranked open water swimmer, Golden Bay Estate resident Rhys Mainstone (aged 28) knows a lot about endurance. This year he set his sights on the Busselton Jetty Swim and became the first swimmer in the iconic event’s history to break through the 40-minute barrier, completing the gruelling 3.6 kilometre course in 39:35:2 and smashing the record by 29 seconds.

Rhys and his partner Jessica have been living in Golden Bay for one year now and say it has been amazing.

We are very keen for community members to have their say on the two concepts under consideration for the Stage 5 Landscape Protection Area and Public Open Space. We are please to offer a new opportunity to view the concepts and have the Development Team on hand to answer any questions, on Thursday 14th June 5pm-7pm.

More than 300 people turned out in perfect weather to enjoy the second annual Day at the Bay at the Golden Bay Foreshore on the weekend.

Cracking Fun at Golden Bay's Easter Movie Night!

The annual Golden Bay Easter Movie Night was a huge success, with around 200 residents both old and new joining in on the fun. Giant fun filled games were enjoyed by families, as well as an Indian curry food truck, coffee van and shave ice food truck for those who were a bit peckish.

In the spirit of Easter, an egg hunt was also a much-loved activity on offer. Kids collected popsicles and traded them in for eggs – or bunnies for the lucky ones that found yellow popsicles!

Families brought their own picnic rugs and beanbags, and Finding Dory started around 7pm as the sun went down.

It was great to see new families also embracing the community activities that Golden Bay has to offer and was also a great opportunity to meet their new neighbours.

Calooli Street Party

The Calooli Street Party was a fantastic resident run event at Golden Bay on Sunday the 12th November, with almost the whole street attending. 

Many neighbours met for the first time and it was great to see a mix of people who wouldn’t normally get together, meeting and making future arrangements. 

The organiser is already keen to host a few street parties each year. This is great news and very exciting to see resident-led initiatives taking off!
