Newhaven is located just 28 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, with easy access to the city by road and rail.
The future West Tarneit Train Station is located within the Newhaven masterplan, on track to arrive in 2026.^ With direct services to Melbourne and Geelong, the new train station will also include a bus interchange, parking, and an accessible pedestrian underpass.
In the meantime, the Tarneit Train Station is just 1.8 kilometres away, only a short drive from Newhaven.
Name announced for the future train station at Newhaven!^
The Allan Labor Government has announced that the future train station within Newhaven's masterplan will be named West Tarneit Train Station.
According to the Government press release, the name was chosen as locals expressed a "strong preference for a place-based and easily identifiable name."
West Tarneit Train Station is due to open next year,^ and will be within walking distance of all homes at Newhaven. Residents won't even have to leave Newhaven to reach the station, but rather will enjoy a peaceful walk through the community's beautifully landscaped streets (instead of battling traffic in the car!)

Designs unveiled for future train station at Newhaven!^
The Government has released the early design for the brand new station in Melbourne's west - making it easier for commuters to catch the train in the booming suburb of Tarneit.
Located within Newhaven's masterplan, the station will include two platforms and an accessible pedestrian underpass for crossing the train line.
Final designs will be released and construction is planned to commence in 2025 - with the station expected to be ready for passengers in 2026.^

Train travel made easy
A convenient commute can be yours at Newhaven. A new train station is on track to arrive in 2026^ within the Newhaven masterplan, meaning you'll soon be able to walk right to the station without even leaving your neighbourhood!
In the meantime, Tarneit Train Station is close by, so you can drive to the station in just a few minutes and leave your car at the Park and Ride car park while you head into the city.

The Victorian Government has announced the 2026 delivery of a new train station at Tarneit West situated within Newhaven.
