Riverbank Parklands Work Begins
On the 28th of June 2022, local council members and Peet representatives gathered to speak and participate in a breaking ground ceremony for the $6 million Riverbank Parklands project.
After receiving the green light for construction in January 2022, Riverbank’s soon-to-be largest amenity is underway. With the parkland spanning 25.2 hectares and 1.5 kilometers across the Caboolture River, there will be no shortage of facilities with something for everyone.
The Riverbank Parklands will include walking and cycle tracks, a shaded adventure playground, a basketball half-court, hopscotch, a scooter track, BBQ and picnic facilities and an oval with football posts.
Perhaps the most anticipated feature of the project will be the direct access to the Caboolture River. Future park goers have the ability to take canoes and kayaks down to the water or enjoy a leisurely walk at the waterfront.
Member for Longman Terry Young MP says of the parklands, “This is really going to lift the profile of Caboolture and that’s what it’s all about.”
With the community experiencing rapid growth, Moreton Bay Regional Council has been collaborating with Peet over the last three years to construct a sanctuary of nature and leisure for the public to enjoy.
Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore says this next phase for the Riverbank Parkland signifies a broader shift in the rapidly growing community.
“Breaking ground on the signature Parkland is just one facet of a wider commitment and investment in the Caboolture area and Southeast Queensland,” said Mr Gore.
“We can see the massive growth the region is experiencing, and with that, we need to create a pipeline of amenities, like the Parklands, that will connect the community to nature.”
“Riverbank is a certified environmentally smart community, so it’s critical we continue to collaborate on amenities that align with the long-term vision for Riverbank Estate”
Local Riverbank resident since 2014, Jess Hales, says of the parklands, “With a young family, we will be able to continue to enjoy the outdoors, meeting other families and being active.”
“One of the highlights of living in Riverbank is the connected community. The Parkland will be another avenue to meet new families and faces and will amplify the relaxed atmosphere Riverbank is known for.”
The first phase of the Riverbank Parklands is set to be completed in early 2023, with the second phase set to wrap up in 2024.
