Tonsley Village is Growing
We are exited to announce a new expansion to the Tonsely Village Masterplan.
The approved plans, that have been developed by Peet in partnership with Renewal SA, will see half of the 1.61-hectare expansion site dedicated to an expansive nature reserve and wetland area. The remaining half of the site has been planned to feature nearly 50 new terrace homes. Construction of this new site is due to commence in 2024.
“With Tonsley Village expected to house nearly 2,000 residents, it is important to strike the right balance between new housing supply and the need for public amenity. This upcoming stage will do just this, significantly increasing the open space and parkland in the community, as well as providing another pedestrian pathway within Tonsley Innovation District. Working in partnership with Renewal SA and City of Marion, this is a prime example of what can be achieved when the private and public sector work together to build connected communities to support growth areas like Tonsley,” said Mark Devine, Peet State Manager for South Australia.
The new wetland and open space will feature extensive native planting, covered BBQ and seating facilities which will be integrated into the adjacent Byron Reserve. Residents will also benefit from improved connectivity within Tonsley Village via a green link which will include a walking and cycling path and improved access to Cohen Court Reserve, which is set to be upgraded by council this year. The new homes will include some of Tonsley Village’s most popular housing options, the Altura 1 and Altura 2 three-bedroom townhouses. The Altura range includes both single and double car garage options, two and a half bathrooms, as well as modern design and appliances throughout.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development Nick Champion said the expansion of Tonsley Village helped address the growing demand for new homes in the area. “Adding almost 50 new homes to Tonsley Village is a great opportunity to expand the developing local community in this important growth area,” Minister Champion said. “The new wetland and open space will benefit the whole community, which will get to utilise the communal BBQ space, amenities and improved access paths. “These plans have been carefully developed by Peet in consultation with Renewal SA, to ensure we are creating a sustainable community at Tonsley Village that caters to the diverse needs of its residents.”
