Our History
Heritage sets us apart
Our success and unwavering confidence in the future lays in the spirit and passion of our founder, James Thomas Peet, who established Peet in 1895.
He believed owning property was every Australian’s birthright and he did all he could to enable people to achieve that dream – pioneering new financial arrangements, initiating witty marketing techniques and supporting families gain a home as they returned from war.
Since then, Peet has survived and thrived through booms and busts, wars and jubilations and ownership changes until our listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2004. Today, we’ve expanded into a national company and we’re one of the most respected names in the property sector – still underpinned by the same qualities of our founder 130 years ago: vision, leadership, courage, integrity, and a passion for property.
