Whether you’re preparing for a play date, after school activities, the weekend or school holidays, there are some great and free child-friendly hot spots all over Australia that can be enjoyed by both the young and young at heart. Parks with playgrounds are popping up all over the country and are set to impress all ages, so grab the family, a friend or the dog to experience some fresh air and exercise while exploring some of these great locations.

To help you identify some great locations to explore, Peet established a partnership with the experts at MammaKnowsMelbourne.com.au – a group that taps into a Mother’s investigative skills and intuition to uncover the best activities and places in communities across Australia. What’s more, we’re accessing their expertise to create new vibrant and practical open spaces within Peet Communities at places such as Newhaven in Tarneit, Cornerstone in Werribee and Aston in Craigieburn; and there’ll be many more to come! There are lots of other blogs and reviewers as well that showcase the best outdoor spaces, such as Buggybuddys.com.au – the No.1 online guide for families and kids in Perth. So slip on your comfortable shoes and explore with us some of the expert’s recommendations on the hottest outdoor spaces around.

Victoria

Mamma Knows reviews and tests hundreds of parks across Melbourne, so they know all the top parks, playgrounds and those ‘hidden gem’ locations that suburbs have to offer and will keep the kids entertained for hours on end. The Mamma Knows team are working with Peet and local landscape architects to maximise the fun and safety elements of parks and playgrounds, to strengthen local communities. Here’s just a sample of some of their recommendations to start exploring and create your list of favourites.

Peet’s Cornerstone Community in Werribee

MammaKnowsWest rates the newly opened Cornerstone community and is eagerly awaiting the completion of the safari-themed playground inspired by the nearby Werribee Open Range Zoo. After all, their input has helped shape the design and activities that will be on offer. With giant animals on display, kids will never want to leave here so to check out what you can expect here. In the meantime, why not visit the giant jumping pillow at the Cornerstone Sales and Information Centre – for opening times and directions on how to get there, click here.

Peet’s Aston Community in Craigieburn

Aston has two park and playground options suggested by MammaKnowsNorth.com.au, and have just announced they are working together with Peet to bring a new traffic school park to Aston later this year. You can read more about this exciting park here.

Debonair Parade Park, with its ‘Indiana Jones’ inspired rope bridge and nearby Champion Parade Playground, with treehouse style offerings are very popular with the kids as Mamma Knows North has pointed out and for more information about life at Aston – from community events, to new sporting fields coming soon, you can find more information here

Peet’s Newhaven Community in Tarneit

The MammaKnowsWest team have been involved in the planning of 3 great parks for Peet communities in the Tarneit area, with a key focus being the creation of a variety of different spaces that are themed and designed to cater for all age groups.

Navigation Park is going to be a major attraction at Newhaven with the park featuring a water playground that includes a water-squirting elephant, a lookout tower with slides, a basketball half-court and a barbecue and picnic pavilion. See what the locals are sharing now.

Nearby you can also visit Haven Park in Peet’s completed community of Haven that offers outdoor exercise equipment for the adults to get fit, whilst the little and big kids are catered for with their own play areas. Also close is the playground at Little Green, another completed Peet community, which features a playground inspired by a ‘river’ effect which includes a nest swing, a mini cricket wall and lots of open space to play or practice your favourite sporting pursuit. Enjoy a picnic or BBQ for that special event and learn more about the progress of these great facilities here

Western Australia

WA is known for its sunny climate and wide open spaces which is a perfect combination for creating some great areas of parkland that can be utilised in all seasons. Buggybuddys has recommended some hotspots that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Peet’s Golden Bay Community

Golden Bay is a thriving community offering a number of great parks, playgrounds and outdoor spaces. This includes an impressive LEGO inspired park promoted by Buggybuddys that features oversized lego blocks, playground puzzle and interactive games. Our Lego Traveller friends certainly felt right at home when they visited Golden Bay. The sand play area features a giant brightly-coloured tractor, sand funnel and a digger and around the perimeter there are 3 in-built trampolines surrounded by soft fall to ensure safety. If relaxing is more your style, unroll your yoga mat and start stretching on the wooden deck area. More information and detailed pictures here.

Peet’s Shorehaven Community in Alkimos

North of Perth lies Alkimos that is an ideal location for those keen on all things coastal. Buggybuddys suggests families check out Shorehaven Boulevard Playground with play equipment for toddlers or older kids which includes a range of climbing, swinging and spinning equipment along with exercise equipment for adults. With an awesome picnic and barbecue area, it is a great location to let the kids run loose on all the playground features while you cook a few sausages or kick back with a coffee and snack from a nearby local café. There’s also the Waterfront Park that is located right on the edge of the beach and includes ocean lookouts and beach showers – plus the hugely popular Shore Cafe. And if you want to get closer to the water, then there is a variety of beach games and sports equipment that can be hired or you can take a short drive to the YanchepLagoon which is great for snorkeling or beach fishing.

Peet’s The Village at Wellard

There is an abundance of open spaces and parks within The Village at Wellard that all offer something different suitable for all ages. Buggybuddys loved The Adventure Park which features a viewing tower, slide and various climbing frames that will keep the young ones entertained for hours. There are also skate, scooter and bike park elements along with a 7metre rope climbing frame that will take you to new heights. Set out like an obstacle course, along with hammocks for resting, there is also an additional BMX track, mini trampolines and outdoor music making features that will capture the imagination of the little ones. Free gas barbecue, tables, seats and drinking water fountain will allow you to make a day of it. The Village at Wellard has within it a range of shops and the well-known Bliss Momos cafe, along with a train station that makes for easy access. Check out some of the images Buggybuddys have posted here.
