Wellard National Schools Tree Planting Day Event
POSTED ON 30 Jul 2024
On Wednesday 24 July 2024, Wellard Village Primary School in partnership with Peet and The Village at Wellard Estate celebrated National Tree Planting Day. An initiative to teach school students about caring for the local environment. The school, which opened in 2023, was seeking to create a sensory garden just for the kindy and pre-primary children. The day saw 31 graduating Year 6 students plant around 400 seedlings to create the garden, delivering a lasting legacy of their time at Wellard Village Primary School. Damian and Hethen from Tranen introduced the activity by sharing the species that were being planted and demonstrated the best way to plant the seedlings for sustainable growth of the garden. Once planting was complete, the Year 6 students took the kindy kids on a tour of the garden and they were very excited to have a garden just for them. The year 6 students were encouraged to come and check on the garden in years to come as it continues to grow and flourish.
