Development Update
November 2022
In early June we had the privilege of having Dr Matilda House perform a smoking ceremony on site. This was attended by people from companies that will be involved in the delivery of works for the development. The ceremony was to acknowledge the previous occupants/custodians of the land and those that will be involved in transforming it for the new occupants/custodians. This occurred prior to any soil being disturbed.
Subsurface archaeological investigation and collection activities commenced in June and are continuing. This is being undertaken with the assistance of Aboriginal groups with numerous artefacts being found for future data logging to increase knowledge of previous human occupation and uses across the region. Following completion, the artefacts will be returned to country.
As you may have noticed some activity has commenced on site. Huon Contractors has been awarded the civil construction works and are in the process of installing construction fencing and setting up their site compound. Construction of infrastructure to connect to Jumping Creek has also commenced with watermain works underway in Ellerton Dr that will connect to the Greenleigh reservoir. This work requires temporary closure of the shared use path along the Greenleigh side of Ellerton Dr. It is anticipated the watermain will be installed and the path reopened by the end of the month.
Detailed design of the intersection with Ellerton Drive is being progressed in consultation with QPRC and it is anticipated that works will commence toward the end of the year.
